British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has addressed Ukrainians in their native language in his Easter message.

According to Ukrinform, the politician's message can be viewed on his Twitter account.

Speaking mostly in English, Johnson said that for Ukrainians, Christ's message of hope, the triumph of life over death and good over evil will resonate this year, perhaps more than any other.

"Be strong and have courage in your heart, all you who trust in the Lord," Johnson said in Ukrainian.

Traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs can be seen in the video, as well as a badge with British and Ukrainian flags on the prime minister's jacket.

Today, April 17, Western Christians celebrate Easter, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christians of the Eastern rite - Orthodox and Greek Catholics - will celebrate Easter on April 24.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced. The country is repelling the invaders.

After the start of the war, the international community imposed large-scale sanctions on Russia.

On April 16, Russia banned Johnson and several high-ranking British officials from entering the country.
