The humanitarian corridor from the besieged city of Mariupol has failed to work as planned today.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Temporary Occupied Territories Reintegration Minister Iryna Vereshchuk on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Due to the lack of control over their own military at the local level, Russian occupiers failed to ensure a proper ceasefire regime. Also, due to their inherent disorganization and negligence, the occupiers failed to ensure the timely transportation of people to the point, where dozens of our buses and ambulance cars were waiting,” Vereshchuk wrote.

In her words, tomorrow the Ukrainian side will resume efforts in the Mariupol direction.

“I am addressing our people in Mariupol: we will fight for each of you,” Vereshchuk added.

A reminder that, on April 20, 2022, a humanitarian corridor was approved to evacuate women, children and the elderly from the besieged city of Mariupol.

The Russian armed aggression has caused one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in Mariupol. Russian troops are bombarding unarmed civilians and blocking the delivery of humanitarian aid. About 120,000 civilians are remaining trapped in Mariupol.
