594 children suffered in Ukraine since start of Russian invasion

Russian troops have killed 208 children in Ukraine since February 24, according to data provided by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office.

“More than 594 children suffered in Ukraine in Russia’s armed aggression. As of the morning of April 22, the official number of child victims has not changed - 208. The number of injured children has increased to 386," the PGO’s press service wrote on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

It is noted that these figures are not final, as work is underway in the areas of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

The largest number of victims has been recorded in Donetsk region - 120, Kyiv region - 113, Kharkiv region - 91, Chernihiv region - 66, Kherson region - 44, Mykolaiv region - 41, Luhansk region - 37, Zaporizhzhia region - 25, Sumy region - 17, Kyiv city - 16, and Zhytomyr region - 15.

According to the PGO, on April 20, a 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in Russian artillery fire in Bakhmut district of Donetsk region.

In addition, the PGO noted regular air strikes and shelling of civilian infrastructure and residential areas by the Russian armed forces damaged 1,141 educational institutions. Of which, 99 were completely destroyed.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
