Russian troops attempt to besiege Popasna

This was announced in a live Facebook video by Luhansk Regional Military Administration Head Serhii Haidai, according to Ukrinform.

“The settlement is almost completely destroyed and Russian troops are trying to encircle Popasna itself. They are advancing from all sides, but there is no place left intact where they could establish a foothold," said the head of the region.

He noted that for more than two months, Popasna and its suburbs have been shelled daily with all types of weapons available to the occupiers. Several enemy companies and battalions pursue their attacks on the city every day.

While answering the question about the worst-case scenario on the front line in Luhansk region, Serhii Haidai said that it would be the encirclement of Popasna by enemy forces.

"The worst-case scenario is where they penetrate our defenses in Bilohorivka and Popasna and cut off the territory of Luhansk region, which will find itself in the siege,” said the head of the Regional Military Administration.

As reported, Luhansk region is constantly under Russian fire. Multiple households, infrastructural and educational facilities have been destroyed, and all the hospitals in the area have sustained damage.

According to the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, there were about 50,000 civilians in the region who refused to evacuate.
