Government changing structure of fuel imports to Ukraine

Ukraine is changing the routes of fuel supplies, increasing the volume transported by road, rail and river.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Economy Ministry on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We are actively reorienting Ukraine to other fuel supply routes. As a result, in May 2022 compared to March 2022, the volume of fuel delivered by road increased by 15 times, by rail and by river – fivefold,” the report states.

In May 2022, Ukraine is expected to need 120,000 tonnes of gasoline and 254,000 tonnes of diesel fuel.

According to Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister, Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Ukraine’s fuel demand will be met through the maximum rise in import volumes, increasing the capacity of road passages and railway handling.

The ministry is also working on railroad junctions and unusual logistics routes via the Black Sea, Baltic Sea and Adriatic Sea ports.

The ministry expects that the positive signals received at the Energy Forum in Warsaw regarding the new fuel supply opportunities will promote and raise fuel handling volumes via Poland from 60,000 to 200,000 tonnes per month.

A reminder that the Russian armed aggression has caused the fuel market crisis in Ukraine. The enemy deliberately destroys fuel infrastructure, attacking depots, pipelines and production facilities at Ukrainian oil refineries.
