Ukrainian defenders repel enemy attempt to attack Ukrainian positions with helicopter in south

"The enemy was trying to launch an air strike on our positions using a Mi-24 helicopter. Thanks to the expediently organized defense and the effective use of appropriate weapons, the enemy pilot, turning away from the strike, hastily withdrew without using weapons," the statement said.

The command did not disclose in what way the Ukrainian Armed Forces forced the enemy to retreat as the occupiers may repeat such attacks in the future.

"We still have something to surprise the ruscists," the Operational Command South said.

In total, on May 26, Ukrainian missile and artillery units, supported by aircraft, struck enemy positions in the south more than 100 times. According to preliminary data, 35 occupiers and several infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed, and the final losses of the enemy are being clarified.

According to the report, as a result of Russia's shelling of the Mykolaiv region in the past day, 14 civilians were wounded and a woman was killed. Most shells were fired at the Mykolaiv and Bashtanka districts.
