U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet again at the White House.

Trump said this at a meeting with journalists at his residence on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports.

When asked whether President Zelensky was invited back to the White House, Trump responded: "Sure, absolutely."

However, he did not provide further details on the potential visit.

At the same time, Trump emphasized the importance of achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine.

"I think the ceasefire is very important. If we can get Russia to do it, that'll be great. If we can't, we just keep going on, and people are going to get killed, lots of people," he said.

Trump on Tuesday expressed hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin would agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine, following the terms negotiated between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
