Zelensky announces law establishing criminal liability for fraudulent call centers

He announced this in an evening address, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“I want to thank the members of parliament today for their productive votes. This is a positive development. It is important that they supported criminal liability for fraudulent call centers. The penalties must be severe. I have just signed this law. It is important that there are votes on laws that fulfill Ukraine’s obligations to its partners. These are funds for Ukraine; these are funds for our country’s state budget,” he said. 

Zelensky noted that the shortfall is significant and explained that every decision that addresses the shortfall truly helps Ukrainians, contributes to Ukraine’s resilience, and supports Ukraine’s defense.

As previously reported, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law establishing separate criminal liability for the creation of, leadership of, and participation in organized fraud rings that use electronic communications.
